Dancing is like a bank robbery…

… It takes split second timing. Sometimes aurora hunting is the same!

Where: Taroona Beach, Tasmania

When: 7 January 2015

Equipment: Canon 1100D with a Tamron 18-270mm lens

Photo details: ISO 1600, 18mm, f/3.5, 10 sec

Editing: Minor adjustments done in Lightroom CC

Notes: While it can be hit and miss catching a good aurora show, it wasn’t this night. It was a balmy clear night, with a spectacular show that lasted for hours. And although the moon (which can wash out aurora shows) was just past full, it didn’t rise till closer to the middle of the night. This gave us a good couple of hours before it started to affect our viewing.
